I hope you found this Gigaware 2.0 Multimedia Speakers review helpful. I recommend these to anyone that wants to drop less than $15 to get some audio with their computer and does not need top sound quality. If you’re on a budget and are familiar with adjusting EQ on your soundcard, you can get a lot of mileage out of these. On the other hand, all things being equal, I was able to get a pretty loud and powerful sound out of these with some tweaking to my system sound card’s EQ settings.Īll in all, these aren’t the best quality speakers, but what do you expect for the price? Gigaware is known for offering low-cost items that “get you in the game” so to speak, and these speakers definitely help solve a problem of getting sounds out of your computer at an extremely affordable price. This in turn could lead to distortion depending on the sound source. Also, these speakers tend to favor mids rather than highs, so there’s a kind of “blaring” effect that occurs when the speakers are turned up. There’s no subwoofer included (although Gigaware makes a version with a sub ), so don’t expect a huge bass response. Audiophiles should probably avoid these, but if you’re like me and just needed a quick and dirty fix, these will fit the bill. These are definitely nothing to write home about in terms of pristine sound. You get what you pay for with sound quality for the most part. These feature a headphone jack along with simple on/off and volume controls on the right speaker. I basically disregarded the CD and just plugged in the speakers – very simple. Included are an 1/8″ cable for connecting to a soundcard’s 1/8″ out, a power cable, some instructions and a CD with some software. Gigaware Multimedia Speakers are probably the most basic speakers you can get. I happened upon the Gigaware Multimedia speakers (available here: Gigaware 2.0 Multimedia Speakers ) for less than $12.

However, what happens when I’m not mixing a track, but still want to watch a movie or listen to some music online? I definitely wanted to prolong the longevity of my studio monitors, and I’m not always trying to power up my pro audio interface, so I set out for something really inexpensive that I could just plug in to my computer’s built-in soundcard and go. Privacy Policyīeing a music producer, I have my studio monitors set up in my computer room to deliver quality sound suitable for mixing.
